General Summary

This position supervises the staff performing the billing, payment posting and auditing activities for the Company. Makes certain a current status in all billing, payment entry and auditing is maintained. Makes certain billing regulations are adhered to in order to achieve the primary objective of the Company which is to receive prompt and proper reimbursement for its clients.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assists the Director with interviews, selection, supervision, evaluation, and counseling of staff and makes recommendations for termination of assigned employees.

2. Manages the day to day work flow for the employees of the Billing, Payment Posting and Auditing areas.

3. Remains knowledgeable of trends in governmental and non-governmental insurance billing regulations.

4. Analyze and communicate positive and negative trends.

5. Provides productivity reporting for assigned CBO employees.

6. Participates in process improvement to improve efficiencies within the department and organization.

7. Manages the time of assigned employees.

8. Helps ensure a productive, safe and positive work environment.

9. Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.

10. At all times protects the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) of patients per HIPAA regulations; does not normally have business need for seeing PHI of employees.

11. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.

12. Performs other duties as required.

13. Works onsite within the department during their scheduled hours. Regular attendance is an essential part of this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Requires 5 years experience with computerized medical billing and accounts receivable systems.
  • High School Diploma or receipt of state accredited organization GED.
  • Analytical ability required to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Ability to create reports for analysis to remain knowledgeable of trends in governmental and non-governmental insurance.
  • Interpersonal ability required to supervise assigned personnel and serve as a resource to customers and insurance companies.
  • Work requires knowledge of accounting, finance, general business normally acquired through 3 to 5 years experience in physician office management. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of software, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with EMR system in place preferred. Work Environment

Long periods of standing or sitting.

Normal range of hearing, voice, and vision to perform work and communication.

Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. use of computer keyboard).

Busy, complex office environment requiring detailed, focused attention.

Normal office environment with minimal discomfort due to noise, temperature or dust.

Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, walking for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying items which may weigh up to 40 pounds.

Vision (including the discernment of color) and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal ranges.
